Your Adventure is Just Around the Corner!

Community Service

Help tackle service projects focused on public health and environmental stewardship, specifically San Diego clean waterway and healthy canyon initiatives. You may work on projects such as plastic-free campaigns, community clean-ups, supporting local watersheds, and/or invasive plant species removal in an urban canyon trail system. In addition, you’ll contribute to health workshops and participate in a community health and advocacy program near the border. Learn how essential community advocacy and preventative care are and what barriers may be faced, such as cost of treatment or pending legal status.

Immersive Learning

From the remnants of Old Town San Diego to the bustling metropolis of Downtown, “America’s Finest City” is a treasure trove for those interested in history, healthcare, border issues, the environment and beyond. Alongside an immersive university campus experience in one of the collegiate capitals of the world, you will explore everything from San Diego’s marine-protected areas, and its history as the first settled location in California at Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala, to the modern opportunities and challenges facing this biomedical research hotspot. Learn from local leaders and guest speakers and spend plenty of time outdoors as you learn.

Adventure

Kayak in La Jolla Cove, known as “California’s Jewel” for its incredible marine wildlife. The knowledgeable guides will teach you plenty about this marine-protected area and its role as both a popular tourist spot and an ocean wildlife hub. Look up and you’ll see nesting peregrine falcons and cormorants on the cliffs, alongside sea lions sunbathing on stunning rock formations. With a little luck you might spot sea turtles, dolphins and even leopard sharks! Then, tour the city and see what the oldest settled region of California has to offer.
