Alaska: Wildlife Alliance Expedition™

Journey to The Last Frontier and explore Alaska’s great wilderness while immersing yourself in learning about the 49th states’s majestic wildlife and landscape and supporting wildlife conservation efforts.
  • Get up close and personal with unique Alaskan wildlife
  • Visit wildlife conservation facilities featured on the TV show “Alaska Animal Rescue!”
  • View wildlife during hiking, river rafting, a marine cruise, and a backcountry train ride
  • Become a citizen scientist for an endangered species
  • Learn about traditional customs of Alaska’s Indigenous Natives

On This Program you will...

Be immersed in experiences involving many of Alaska’s iconic wildlife species. See and learn about a large variety of terrestrial and marine wildlife, their biology, and the threats they face. You will also help in animal care and habitat restoration activities in this largest U.S. state (so large, in fact, that if it was divided in half, each half would still be larger than any other state). Because it’s so big, we’ll keep our trip focused on exploring the southcentral region. Hike to a glacier, raft a river, learn about Alaskan native games, take a wildlife cruise, ride a train, and meet some sled dogs!

Your Adventure is Just Around the Corner!

Community Service

Human encroachment into Alaska’s many wilderness areas has put wildlife at risk. Help with conservation projects, such as the care of rescued animals and their facilities, removal of invasive species and habitat restoration. The specific service activity may vary depending upon the specific needs at the time of your trip. Support a local fish hatchery that works to maintain consistent fish populations in the area. Also, you will receive a one-year membership with the Alaska Wildlife Alliance, a nonprofit protecting Alaska’s wildlife through education and citizen mobilization.

Immersive Learning

Alaska boasts the most diverse array of wildlife species in the country. You may get up-close with numerous wildlife species, both terrestrial and marine. So be on the lookout for ancient musk ox, moose, bears, bald eagles, whales, otters, sea lions, puffins and others! Learn from wildlife experts along your journey. You’ll also learn about the unique culture of Alaska’s Indigenous Natives, their close relationship with wildlife for subsistence, and about a unique mode of transportation integral in Alaska’s history (hint, it involves a sled and a team of dogs).

Become as passionate about Alaskan wildlife as we are! Your journey will be packed with fun ways to see iconic wildlife. In addition to the plants and animals you will witness during the immersive learning components, you’ll also get to see wildlife both up-close and from a distance during your adventures hiking, river rafting, cruising through wildlife-rich waters, and riding a train through backcountry wilderness. See a glacier up close, pan for gold like old-time explorers to the Alaskan wilderness once did, and help to train (and cuddle with) sled dogs.
