Global Summer Symposium
on Children & Education
Join us for a two-week online program where you will explore the unique issues that youth face in regards to their rights, educational access and well-being. Travel virtually to Ghana and South Africa to learn how initiatives are being put in place to improve the lives of its youth through supportive solutions. Confront challenging topics such as child slavery, and uncover how education is instrumental to solving the immense challenges children face around the world.

During this Global Summer Symposium on Children & Education, you will explore children’s issues as they relate to complex monstrosities such as modern child slavery, as well as how poverty and access to education affect solutions to these problems.
Children are among the most vulnerable citizens around the world, and we need holistic solutions that support the well-being of our communities as well as ultimately, our children and our future.
Students on this program will travel “virtually” to South Africa and Ghana to make the case for educating ourselves on challenges facing children around the world, and how education is the most powerful tool there is to change the world.
Throughout this two-week online program, dive into how access to safe living conditions and education should be a basic human right for all children.
In South Africa, hear from the SAVE Foundation, a registered non-profit that works to enrich, educate and empower and protect children in impoverished communities.
Hear how they are working to end the vicious cycle of poverty that young people face in their community.
In Ghana, hear from an organization dedicated to supporting victims of child slavery.
Witness how they are working to create future paths for the most vulnerable members of the next generation.
During this program, students will explore United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #1 – No Poverty and United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4 – Quality Education.

Programs
Explore how different communities are tackling critical issues in their own backyards, and consider concepts that can be applied globally and locally
Take a cooking course to make a traditional South African meal, or listen to the eclectic sounds of Ghanian percussion music
Earn a certificate of achievement and use this experience as a capstone for your college applications or future career resumes
